Tejas and Aishwarya’s serene wedding at Panchavati

Bride’s entry to the Mantapa in a beautifully decorated chariot

Rituals, pomp, splendour and grandeur are part and parcel of Indian weddings. Adding serenity to the boisterous weddings makes it a loving experience. Panchavati- The Pavilion did the same for the couple. It made their wedding a nature retreat. Capturing Tejas and Aishwarya’s wedding memories in such a serene venue was bliss.

Their Arya Vysya Wedding, similar to Gowda wedding and Tamil Brahmin weddings, was filled with rituals. We were honoured to capture the age-old rituals.

Arya Vysya Wedding Rituals

Wedding day rituals at Tejas and Aishwarya’s wedding began with Mangal Snanam, an auspicious bath taken by the Bride and Groom, on the dawn of their marriage day. It was followed by Gowri Pooja, Snathakam and Kashi yatra. Kashi Yatra is a fun-filled ritual seen in all South-Indian weddings.

After the Kashi Yatra ritual, the Groom was escorted to the Mantapa to perform Ganesh pooja before the bride’s entry. According to traditions, the maternal uncle carries the bride to the Mantapa in a straw basket. However, our bride Aishwarya made a spectacular entry sitting on a decorated chariot carried by her maternal uncle and other supporters.

Then took place the most awaited ritual―Kanyadaan followed by the tying of Mangalsutra. All the relatives gathered around and showered the newlyweds with blessings, flower petals and yellow coloured rice. Post-wedding rituals consisted of games organised by cousins and friends followed by Griha Pravesh. We loved capturing the lovely memories for the couple to treasure for life.
